Jim Tokarski, 71

James Joseph Tokarski, age 71, passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Heartland Health Care Center in Three Rivers.

He was born on December 6, 1950 in Three Rivers, to Joseph and Frances Tokarski.

Jim spent most of his life in the Three Rivers area. He was a 1969 graduate of Mendon High School and a member of the local 4-H club.

An avid writer and photographer, his photographs and articles were known locally and have appeared in national publications. His colored photograph of the Langley Covered Bridge graces the front of the St. Joseph County road map. Jim also appeared in several films as an extra, with John Candy in “Only the Lonely,” and in “Rudy.”

He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and was preceded in death by his brother Robert, his father and mother. He is survived by numerous cousins and friends.

According to his request, he will be cremated and interred in the Riverside Cemetery.  A service for the family will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Riverside Cemetery.

Donations to the American Diabetes Association may be made in his name. Envelopes are available at and may be sent to Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers, MI 49093 in care of his arrangements.
