A Colon church is staging a shoe collection through the end of February.
St. Paul’s Lutheran Church has placed bins outside its main entrance for anyone wishing to donate a pair of well-worn, gently-worn, or even new shoes or boots.
The third annual drive is in support of the Indiana-based organization Changing Footprints. St. Paul’s has collected more than 2,000 pairs of boots and shoes collectively in its previous drives, event organizers said.
The most-needed items are men’s work boots and children’s shoes.
Changing Footprints supplies donated footwear to veteran’s groups, job-placement efforts, hospitals, emergency-response teams and schools.
Previous collections have assisted children in Colon and Mendon as part of the work undertaken by Changing Footprints.
