Paul Leo Currier, age 87, of Sturgis, was called to his heavenly home to join his Lord and Savior Wednesday morning, May 27, 2026, at Drew’s Place in Coldwater. He was born on December 5, 1938 in Burr Oak, son of the late Leo and Elizabeth (Nussbaum) Currier.
Paul resided in the Sturgis and Burr Oak area his entire life and was a proud graduate of Burr Oak High School with the class of 1958.
On November 17, 1963, he married the love of his life, Rosemary Hora, at the Burr Oak Missionary Church. She preceded him in death on October 30, 2016.
In 1998, Paul retired from Ross Laboratories in Sturgis following 33 ½ years of dedicated service. In addition to his longtime employment there, he also owned and operated Currier Sanitation Service from 1974 until the sale of the business in 2009.
Paul proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He was an active member of Sturgis Wesleyan Church, now known as Radiant Life Church, where he faithfully served as a trustee, usher. and greeter, while also volunteering countless hours mowing and caring for the church grounds. Paul was a loyal and dedicated fan of the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and the University of Michigan Wolverines. He enjoyed working in his yard and spending time fishing, especially ice fishing. Although Paul had many hobbies and interests, the greatest joy in his life was the time he spent with his family.
He is survived by his loving children: Paul (Katina) Currier II of Sturgis and Lynette (Bill) Ritchie of Sturgis; grandchildren: Jacob (Jenna) Currier of Rochester Hills, Hannah Ritchie of Sturgis, Isaiah Currier of Sturgis and Jadealin Currier of Sturgis; sister-in-law, Cooky Currier of Burr Oak; brother-in-law, Jerry Cronkhite of Burr Oak; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson, Benjamin Currier; sisters, Elvina Williamson, Catherine Brinkley and Mary Cronkhite; and brothers, John Currier, Samuel Currier and William Currier.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 31st, at Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St. in Sturgis, and from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 1st at Burr Oak Missionary Church, 327 N. Third Street in Burr Oak, where funeral services celebrating the life of Paul Leo Currier will immediately follow the visitation at 11:00 A.M. Pastor Ben Currier will officiate.
A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis. Full military honors will be conferred by Captain John J. Kelley Post #1355 V.F.W. and the United States Navy Honor Guard.
