Charles A. Belson, age 86, of Mendon, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Birch AFC in Leonidas, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Fawn River Township on July 30, 1939 the son of Robert and Mable (Hallam) Belson. Chuck attended Athens High School and was part of the 1957 graduating class. On September 24, 1958 he married Janet Crotser and the two of them shared almost 68 years together.
He enjoyed farming and running the bulldozer and excavator, keeping busy with odd jobs around the farm. Chuck has been involved with farming his entire life and was inducted into the Michigan Farmers Hall of Fame. He enjoyed pulling his 1976 Ford truck and several antique tractors. Chuck was involved at Factoryville Bible Church and Three Rivers Bible Church; teaching Sunday school, college career group, and was on the board. He loved to praise the Lord, singing in various quartets. In his limited free time, Chuck played on slow-pitch softball leagues both in Florida and Three Rivers. Above all else, he loved God, his family, farming, and his country.
Chuck is survived by his wife of almost 68 years, Janet Belson; three children; Tammy (David) Parks, Rob (Laura) Belson, and Greg (Shelly) Millard; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Doug Belson; and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in passing by his parents, Robert and Maxine Belson.
Visitation for Chuck will be held at the Eickhoff Funeral Home (311 W Main St., Mendon, MI 49072) on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 4 until 7pm. Services will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026 at the Three Rivers Bible Church (220 N. Erie St., Three Rivers, MI 49093) at 3pm. Following services, burial with take place at Mendon Cemetery.
