Governor appeals FEMA denial

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Tuesday appealed a decision by Federal Emergency Management Agency, which denied individual assistance for Michigan residents impacted by the March 6 tornado.

The areas hardest hit were Cass, St. Joseph and Branch counties.

Financial support was being sought for households with uninsured or underinsured losses.

Low-interest federal disaster loans remain available from the U.S. Small Business Administration for businesses, nonprofit organizations, homeowners and renters impacted by the March 6 tornadoes.
