Potential embezzlement case at Doyle Center

Investigators from the Sturgis Department of Public Safety are looking into a potential case of embezzlement.

The matter was brought to light during last week’s Sturgis City Commission meeting. Former Doyle Center office manager Leslie Brooks spoke during public comment about an ongoing investigation at the city-owned facility.

Brooks indicated the case centers on another former office manager at the Doyle Center.

Brooks said she hopes the case is investigated thoroughly and that charges will be filed, if circumstances warrant. She said financial misconduct deserves accountability.

City manager Andrew Kuk said the matter remains under investigation and no further comment on the case will be provided as a result.
