One person is dead following a head-on crash on the east side of White Pigeon Tuesday afternoon.
The Michigan State Police said the incident happened on U.S. 12 near Lima Road. Both drugs and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the incident. A 64-year-old man from Bridgman suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Investigation revealed a GMC Envoy was traveling east on U.S. 12 when it attempted to pass multiple vehicles. It hit a box truck which was headed in the opposite direction head-on. The 20-year-old driver of the Envoy, a man from White Pigeon, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt, Troopers said.
The crash remains under investigation.
