James Allen Griffin, age 62, of Sturgis, passed away Sunday evening, July 5, 2026, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
He was born March 1, 1964 in Charlotte, Michigan, son of Peter and Nancy L. (Sherwood) Griffin.
Jim resided most of his life in the Battle Creek and Sturgis areas and was a graduate of Fowlerville Christian School. On March 20, 1997, he married the love of his life, Alice Rose Broglin, in Factoryville. She preceded him in death on April 4, 2023.
Jim retired from Walmart following many years of dedicated employment at both the Battle Creek and Sturgis stores. He was known for his strong work ethic and the friendships he made throughout his career.
He attended Factoryville Bible Church and could truly be described as a sports fanatic. Jim faithfully followed nearly every sport and was a devoted fan of the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, Detroit Pistons, Detroit Red Wings, and the Los Angeles Rams. While sports were one of his greatest passions, nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his family. He especially cherished the special bond he shared with his nephews, creating countless memories that they will treasure for years to come.
He is survived by his parents, Peter and Nancy Griffin; brothers, Mark (Misty) Griffin of Sturgis and John (Pamela) Griffin of Aurora, Texas; sister, Maria (Jeremy) West of Cassville, Missouri; beloved nephews, Jacob Griffin, Joshua Griffin, Jack Griffin, and Jonathan Griffin; and several extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Rose Griffin, and his nephew, Joseph Kenneth Griffin.
In honoring Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private graveside service and burial of his cremated remains will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue.
