Patricia Hickmott, 97

In the early morning hours of Monday, July 20th,2026, Patricia J. (Sweet) Hickmott of Moon Township, PA passed away peacefully at the age of 97 with her loving daughter by her side.

Patricia, or Pat as she was known to by all, was born on October 20, 1928 in Battle Creek, where she lived with her parents Marie B. Sweet and John Jay Sweet as well as her sister Margaret, and her brothers John and James. She was predeceased by her husband William A. Hickmott, her son Michael A. Hickmott, her sister Margaret Gaskell, and her brother James Sweet.

A graduate of Nazareth College with a degree in English, she began her career as a teacher. She married the love of her life, William A. Hickmott, on June 8th, 1956. She spent many years as a homemaker raising their family in Coraopolis before working as a proofreader for the local newspaper. She later started working in the medical office at Holy Family, where she dedicated many years of compassionate service before retiring.

A lifelong member of the choir at St. Margaret Mary’s Church, she found joy in her faith, music, and community. She loved line dancing, taking walks, known by our dad as forced marches, and was an avid reader who was rarely without a good book in hand. Music was an important part of her life, and she simply couldn’t stay still when she heard a favorite tune. She especially loved the timeless sounds of the big band era and the music of Neil Diamond.

Above all, she will be remembered as a devoted mother, cherished Grandma and Great-Grandma, and a loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She was a sweet, gracious, and proper lady whose gentle spirit and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her. She had a remarkable gift for always knowing the right thing to say, offering words of comfort, wisdom, or encouragement that made others feel understood and cared for. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family created a legacy that will live on for generations.

Her world-famous chocolate chip cookies and cutout cookies were more than family favorites—they were expressions of her love, eagerly anticipated at every holiday and shared with those she cared about most. She leaves behind countless treasured memories, a lifetime of love, and an example of grace, compassion, and selfless devotion that will never be forgotten.

Pat is survived by her brother John Sweet, her daughter, Ann Danforth (John) and her son Joseph Hickmott (Tina). As well as her many grandchildren/great grandchildren including Beau Danforth, Carley Danforth (Tony), Cole Danforth, Matthew Hickmott (Katrina), Nicolas Hickmott (Kellie), Joseph Hickmott, Justice Hickmott, Connor Hickmott, Emily Hickmott, Ronald Hickmott and Isabella Hickmott. Her extended surviving family includes her many nieces, nephews and their spouses.

Friends will be received on Friday 4 from 7 pm at R. D. Copeland, Inc., 981 Brodhead Road, Moon Township where a Funeral Prayer will be held on Saturday at 9 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Margaret Mary Church at 9:30 am.  A private family burial will take place at St. Edward Catholic Cemetery in Mendon.
