Truck strikes buggy in Branch County crash

The tough weather on Monday afternoon played a role in a truck-Amish buggy accident in Branch County. The Branch County Sheriff’s Department said an accident happened just before 4:30 p.m. on Monday at the intersection of North Fiske and Jonesville roads.

A pickup truck driven by a 45-year-old Quincy man was traveling southbound on Fiske Road when it struck the rear of an Amish buggy, also traveling south.

Three men, aged 18, 20 and 23, were in the buggy. The 18-year-old was transported to Insight Hospital in Coldwater, with non life-threatening injuries. The other two were evaluated at the scene and declined further medical treatment.

Inclement weather is believed to have been a contributing factor. The incident remains under investigation.
