United Way warns of raffle scam

The St. Joseph County United Way is warning the community about a potential scam.
On the organizations Facebook page, the United Way said a man is allegedly selling 50-50 raffle tickets claiming he is doing it for the United Way. This is not the case.
While the United Way appreciates its volunteers, they are not aware of any 50-50 raffles outside of the ones currently taking place inside their office. Their volunteers would have a United Way T-shirt on as well as carrying a flyer with more details, including a specific raffle license number of the tickets.
The United Way said they have contacted the local businesses where the alleged scam is taking place and will contact authorities if needed.
