The Cass County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate a body found in a farm field late last week.
The sheriff’s office said deputies were dispatched to a “suspicious situation” around McKenzie and Churchill streets in Volinia Township Thursday afternoon.
There, deputies met with the landowner, who found a badly decomposed body in a field.
The Michigan State Police Mobile Crime Lab was initiated at the scene. The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office and the Medical Examiner’s Office both assisted on scene.
