County corrections deputy arrested

The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department released a statement late last week on a corrections deputy who was arrested. Officials said the deputy was arrested on Tuesday, August 4 and lodged at the Kalamazoo County Jail the same day.

Because the incident remains an active investigation and is a pending criminal matter, the sheriff’s department cannot comment on the facts of the case. The Three Rivers Police Department is handling the incident.

Consistent with sheriff’s office police, the deputy was placed on paid administrative leave pending administrative review.

Statement:  The sheriff’s office is committed to maintaining the public’s trust through transparency, accountability and due process. While the public’s interest in the matter is apparent, it is important that the investigative and judicial processes proceed without interference, the statement read. The sheriff’s office will continue to evaluate the matter internally as additional information becomes available.

  1. They can’t name the arrested officer, but they can name arrested Ms. Harker? Both are ongoing invrstigations. One law for me but not for thee?

  2. How many county officials and employees have been investigated or arrested in the last 10 years only to get a free walk? A slap on the hand? Guessing we taxpayers are paying this one too.
