Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced criminal charges against five individuals last week for allegations of illegal voting.
Nessel’s office announced charges were being sought on five non-citizens who voted in the 2024 November general election. There was also one citizen who allegedly tried to register their non-citizen spouse.
Locally, a Three Rivers woman, Alondra Harker, age 26, was charged with one count of “Election Law — Fraudulent Registration, contrary to MCL 168.519, which is a 90-day misdemeanor.
Harker is a limited term alien resident and is not eligible to vote, according to reports. It is alleged she registered and voted in-person in the 2024 general election in Three Rivers.
The City of Three Rivers released a statement on the election fraud.
The City said they are coordinating with legal counsel and the appropriate state authorities. The charges are allegations in a pending criminal matter and all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The City is preserving potentially relevant records and will respond appropriately to lawful requests for information.
The City also said they will not have comment on the specific allegations or prosecution.
In a release, the City said it is grateful for an election system that protects every eligible voter’s opportunity to participate while also providing safeguards to identify and address potential unlawful voting. The investigation and review of this matter through established legal processes demonstrate those safeguards working as intended.
