Branch County driver arrested after fleeing police

A 46-year-old Branch County resident was arrested on Sunday just after midnight.

The Branch County Sheriff’s Department said the driver was being pulled over for a traffic violation on Union City road just after 12:20 a.m. The sheriff’s deputy activated emergency lights, but the driver failed to stop and was pursued.

Following the pursuit’s end, the driver was found to have a revoked license. The vehicle had not been registered since 2023 and was not insured.

The driver was taken into custody facing charges of:

Fleeing and eluding
Operating a motor vehicle without insurance
Driving while license revoked
