Constantine to receive grant and loan for new fire station

The Village of Constantine will be getting a new fire station.

This past week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development program announced they are providing a nearly $2 million loan, along with a $1.5 million grant for the project.

The village said the current station needs an upgrade. They have put together some preliminary designs for the new structure, but those will likely change as the plan is finalized by officials.

The project is expected to be constructed on Washington Street, north of Rotary Park, at the old D&S Food Center location. The expectation calls for the project to be completed sometime in 2027.
