Employee altercation leads to injury and arrest

A Coldwater Burger King employee was hospitalized after an altercation Sunday evening. Another employee faces assault charges after an argument happened at the restaurant.

Authorities say a 46-year-old Coldwater resident has multiple head injuries sustained following a 22-year-old co-worker at Burger King assaulting him. The assault included the victim being hit in the head with a phone. He was also bitten in the face by the co-worker, officials said.

Emergency responders transported the victim to the hospital for treatment of the injuries. The full extent of those injuries was not released just yet, nor the condition.

Police said the 22-year-old returned from break when the argument ensued. Witnesses said the assailant jumped the counter and assaulted the older man.

The Branch County Prosecutor’s Office charged the younger man with assault with intent to do great bodily harm.
