Fatal crash in Mottville Township

An Indiana man is dead following a crash that happened in Mottville Township Tuesday morning.

The Michigan State Police said a man driving a semi-truck died as the result of the crash Tuesday around 8 a.m. The driver, a 75-year-old man from Elkhart, was headed east on US-12 when he rear-ended an RV near Burke Road. The RV was stopped at a traffic signal controlling a one-lane construction zone, the MSP said.

The Elkhart man was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. The driver of the RV was also taken to the hospital, authorities said, but non-life-threatening injuries were sustained.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and neither alcohol or drugs are believed to be involved in the crash, which remains under investigation by Troopers.
