Mobile clinic use increases since beginning service

The Cass County Commission received some positive news on Thursday. Joseph Gavan, Cass Family Clinic CEO, informed the commission that the organization’s mobile clinic has been having success.

Gavan told the commission the mobile clinic has seen more than 900 patients since it was put into service last November. He said the increase in volume has been at 40 percent, month over month. The mobile clinic provides both medical and behavioral health services. It’s been used for sports physicals and dental checkups at local schools as well.

The mobile clinic was funded by Cass County’s share of opioid settlement money. On Thursday, the commission also agreed to provide $50,000 in opioid funding to the Ontwa Township-Edwardsburg Police Department to help with the cost of a new K-9 unit.
