The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate a two-vehicle crash which occurred in Lockport Township on Friday.
Sheriff’s deputies said the incident happened just before 3:30 p.m. at Lutz and Fairchild roads in Lockport Township. A semi truck, driven by a 49-year-old man from Grand Rapids, was headed north on Lutz road when it collided with a van, driven by a 21-year-old man from Jones, who was south bound on Lutz.
The driver of the van was airlifted to Beacon Hospital for life-threatening injuries, authorities said. The semi driver had no injuries.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the incident, officials said.
