William Arthur “Bill” Diehl, age 66, of Sturgis, passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, September 15, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 19, 1959 in Trenton, Michigan, son of the late Jack and Mary (Douglas) Diehl.
Bill resided in Sturgis for the past seven years, coming from Texas. His early life was spent in Delaware, where he made many lasting memories.
Bill’s last employment was a job he truly enjoyed as a greeter at Meijer in Sturgis. Most of his working life was spent caring for golf courses as a greenskeeper. While living in Delaware, he also worked as a cook at Kimberly’s Restaurant.
Bill held a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice as well as a degree in maintenance. He was a talented musician and songwriter, with several of his songs being produced. He had a passion for golf and was a loyal and dedicated fan of the Detroit Lions. Above all, Bill’s greatest joy in life was the time he spent surrounded by his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Those moments together were the ones he treasured most.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary (Amanda) McCrimmon of Sturgis; son, Matthew (Kristinna) Diehl of Brooklyn, Michigan; grandchildren, Dezarie Mathews, Lucas Mathews and Carma LaFontaine; sister, Patricia (Tom) Hayes of Delaware; brother, Jack (Kim) Diehl of Delaware; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Rick Diehl and Gary Diehl.
In honoring Bill’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.
