A body recovered last week from the St. Joseph River could be a Three Rivers man who was reported missing earlier this month, according to sheriff’s department officials.
Members of the St. Joseph County Dive/Rescue team recovered the body in Three Rivers Friday.
Investigators are awaiting autopsy results for confirmation it is the body of Justin Berg, 45, who had been missing since May 9.
Berg was last seen around 5 p.m. May 9, walking from his home. Police said his cell phone was found May 12 under a bridge of the St, Joseph River in Three Rivers.
The county’s dive team searched the river, but found nothing associated with Berg.
The body was taken to Western Michigan University, where the autopsy will be performed and identification confirmed.
St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department and Three Rivers police assisted in the recovery effort.
