Joan Louise Beers, age 85, of Sturgis, passed away Monday evening, June 24, 2024 at Edgewood Nursing and Rehabilitation in Three Rivers.
She was born January 19, 1939, in Michigan. She was the daughter of Lyman and Irene (Meade) Hugg.
Joan was first married to Kenneth who preceded her in death. She later married Jack D. Beers and he preceded her in death May 20, 2020.
She had been employed as a cashier at Harding’s Market in Sturgis and had worked at area nursing homes.
Joan enjoyed camping and wintering in Texas.
She is survived by her son: Michael Beers of Missouri; stepdaughters: Debra Howe of Mottville and Sally Jackson of Sturgis; sister-in-law: Sherry Hugg of Goshen, Indiana and several nieces and nephews including Shirley Beers who had been her caretaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and brother: Lyman Hugg.
In accordance with Joan’s wishes cremation has taken place. Private graveside services will be held at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis at a later date.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
