Jack Baker, 77

Jack H. Baker, age 77, of Three Rivers, passed away suddenly on Saturday, April 19, 2008 at his home. He was born on April 20, 1931 in Three Rivers, the son of Clifford Hoyt and Ruby (Meyers) Baker. Jack has been a long time resident of this area. He graduated from Three Rivers High School. He served his country during the Korean Conflict. Upon returning, Jack became and has been a freelance reporter for such newspapers as the Three Rivers Commercial, the Kalamazoo Gazette, the Sturgis Journal and the South Bend Tribune. He also was the color commentator for Three Rivers High School football for many years. Jack was a lifetime member of both the B.P.O.E. Lodge #1248 Three Rivers and also the American Legion Hice-Shutes Post # 170. Jack leaves to cherish his memory one son, Jon (Mary) Baker and their daughter, Brooklynn Leigh Baker of Southern Pines, N.C.; two sisters, Jeannette Jacobs of Three Rivers and Janet Sherman of Newberry, FL; special companion for many years, Betty Baker, and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM on Sunday, April 27, 2008 at the Hohner Funeral Home. Memorials may be donated to the charity of one’s choice.
