James W. Schmidlin, age 47 of Sturgis, Mich., passed away Saturday evening, March 14, 2009, in Sherman Township, Mich., due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born Feb. 9, 1962, in Coldwater, a son to Charles and Jean (Greene) Schmidlin.
Jim had resided in Sturgis for the past seven years coming from Lambertville, Mich.
He was a member of St. Michael Lutheran Church in Ottawa Lake, Mich., and he loved fishing.
He is survived by his parents, Charles and Jean (Greene) Schmidlin of Lambertville, Mich.; one daughter, Sarah of Toledo, Ohio; two sisters, Vicki Flores of Lambertville Mich., and Lisa Duda of Temperance, Mich.; two brothers, Mike Boston of Thomasville, Ga. and Guy Boston; and his former wife, Patricia Schmidlin of Sturgis.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Keith Schmidlin and his grandparents.
In accordance with family wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of James Schmidlin will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Michael Lutheran Church in Ottawa Lake. The Rev. Mark Gibbs will officiate. Burial of the ashes will take place at Whiteford Union Cemetery in Ottawa Lake.
