Bud Tout, 78

Leroy Wayne “Bud” Tout, age 78 of Three Rivers, Mich., died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, where he had been a patient for six days.
He was born in Centerville, Ind., on Jan. 26, 1931, the son of Olin and Lola (Baker) Tout. Following graduation from Centerville High School he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 through 1954. Bud took business and accounting courses at Western Michigan University over the next four years. He was employed at Continental Can Company in Three Rivers for 25 years, and upon the plant closing worked for Crest in Shelbyville, Ill., for 5 years, then returned to the Fonda Group plant in Three Rivers. Following his first retirement, he worked for Lynch Oil Company, the Three Rivers Post Office and the White Pigeon Post Office over the next 14 years.
Bud was a member of the Three Rivers Elks. He enjoyed golf and was a former member of the Sauganash Country Club. He bowled in leagues while living in Illinois. He enjoyed all sports, camping, fishing, and banjo music. He especially enjoyed travels with his wife, and had visited every state except Hawaii.
Leroy was married to Dorothy “Dottie” Farley on Dec, 31, 1959, in Three Rivers. She survives, along with three children, Bobby Price, Lori Holder (Tim) and Michael Tout, all of Three Rivers; a granddaughter, Jacqueline Strait of Sturgis; a sister-in-law, Joan Halsey of Bellevue; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Barbara Slater; and a brother, Thomas Halsey.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Eickhoff, Farrand, Halverson Chapel of Three Rivers. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 523 Maple St., Three Rivers, with Pastor Kyle Foster officiating. Military interment will be in Riverside Cemetery by Hice-Shutes American Legion Post #170.
Memorials may be directed to either the Olympic Bible Project, or the Mount Pleasant Mission Project, both in care of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, or the
St. Joseph County Chapter of the Michigan Right to Life.
