Clarence Stauffer, 80

Clarence Jess Stauffer, age 80 of Colon, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at his home, surrounded by the presence of his children.

Clarence was born May 8, 1929, in Nottawa, a son to the late Joseph and Lizzie (Bontrager) Stauffer.

 On July 30, 1949, he married Frances S. Schwartz in Nottawa, she preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 2003.

Clarence had worked as a mason and carpenter all his working life. He enjoyed the out-of-doors especially hunting.

 He is survived by his children, Jesse (Debra) Stauffer of Albion, Joyce Cerny of Colon, Douglas (Diane) Stauffer of Three Rivers, Jeanette (John) Martin of Maui, Hawaii, Joey Stauffer of Tenn., Luke (Marcia) Stauffer of Coldwater, Bonnie (Tim) Wirgau of Paris, Tenn., Brian (Kari) Stauffer of East Le Roy and Monica (Chuck) Buckley of Burr Oak; two daughters-in-law, Sue Raisanen of Alexandria, Minn., and Barb Stauffer of Tennessee; and son-in-law, Stan Cerny of Leonidas; 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry Stauffer of Centreville and Melvin Stauffer of Florida.

 Besides his parents and wife Frances, he was preceded in death by three brothers, David, Ernest and Harley Stauffer.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Schipper Funeral Home in Colon. 

Funeral services celebrating the life of Clarence J. Stauffer will be 11 a.m. Friday at the New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church, 32969 Custer Road, Burr Oak, with Pastor Clint A. Zehr officiating. 

Burial will follow at the Locust Grove Cemetery in Findley. If desired, the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Clarence to the New Covenant Christian Fellowship Church.

Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and church.
