Ned Heckelman, 90

Ned Warren Heckelman, 90 years old, recently a resident of Fdwardsburg, and formerly a resident of Lutz Road, Constantine, passed to his rest on Saturday, May 2, 2009 while living at Whispering Pines Adult Care in Edwardsburg.
Ned was born June 9, 1918 in Three Rivers, the son of Lester and Mabel (Smith) Heckelman. He had lived in the Three Rivers and Constantine area as a farmer all his life until of recent when he came to the Edwardsburg area with his wife, Bernice. Ned was married March 17, 1967 to Bernice F. Stemple, and she passed on Dec.. 13, 2008. Among the survivors are a step-son, Harry and Deborah Stemple, Jr of Edwardsburg, step-grandchildren, Toni and Tom Burns of Holland, MI and Kevin and Niko Stemple o Alexandria, VA. There are step-great-grandchildren Kyra Burns, Teig Burns, and Kailey Stemple. Ned has a sister, Beulah Bradford of Three Rivers, MI Ned enjoyed trapping, hunting, his donkey Judd, and his dog, Trixie. He and Bernice enjoyed going together to auctions and just traveling.
Friends and family may gather for a graveside service Saturday, May 9th, in the Marcellus Cemetery, Marcellus, MI at 11:00 AM. The service will be directed by Dr. David Waid, Pastor of the Dailey Road Church, Cassopolis. Burial will follow in the family area of the Marcellus Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests the planting of a tree, shrub, or plant at your own home, to honor the lives of Ned and Bernice. Think of Ned and Bernice and always enjoy the planting you have done. Arrangements have been entrusted to Paul B. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg, MI.
