Patricia Ann Carper, age 68, of Constantine passed away Friday, May 22nd, 2009 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Marcellus, on April 1, 1941, a daughter of Samuel R. and Lucille (Landis) Hartzell. Pat moved to Constantine at 5 years of age, and attended Constantine Schools. On March 25, 1958 she married Samuel B. Carper in Centreville. Pat was a loving and devoted wife mother and grandmother who cherished her family. She enjoyed cooking, traveling and working in her flower garden.
Surviving are her husband Sam Carper, Constantine, daughter Gloria (Fred) Stears, Constantine, son Thomas (Debbie) Carper, Pensacola, FL, sister Betty Kaper, Constantine, brothers William (Lillian) Hartzell, Three Rivers, Robert (Diane Sodeman) Hartzell, Constantine, Leon (Mary) Hartzell, Centreville, grandchildren Freddie Stears, Katie Stears, Mallory Arnold, Patrick Arnold, Malissa Arnold, Trevor Arnold, Christopher Arnold and Selina White, great grandson Frederick Ronald Stears and several step grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Christine Ann (Carper) Arnold, brothers Clifford and Calvin Hartzell and sisters in law Lorraine Hartzell and Marie Hartzell.
Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Religious Services will be held at the Constantine United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 27th, with Reverend Melanie Young officiating. Interment will be in the Peek Cemetery.
