Dorotha Ellen Hazel, age 92, of Three Rivers, passed away Monday, June 22nd, 2009 at the Heartland Health Care Center in Three Rivers. She was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana on December 17, 1916, the daughter of Harry and Myrtle (Kennedy) Chadwick. Dorotha graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1934 and attended the Indianapolis Central Business College. On July 2, 1938 she married James Hazel in Goshen, IN. He preceded her in death October 19, 2002. Dorotha retired from the Weyerhaeuser Paper Co. in Three Rivers and previously worked at Continental Can and at the A&P Grocery Business Office in Indianapolis. She was a member of the Centreville United Methodist Church and a life member of Chapter #210 Eastern Star. She enjoyed sewing and crochet.
Surviving are her son Douglas and Cindy Hazel , South Bend, daughter Marybeth and Donald VanZile of McAllen, TX, grandchildren Jeff Hazel, Chris Hazel, Brian Hazel, and Jill Hazel, great grandchildren Nathan Hazel, Jacob Hazel, Renae Curtis, Eddie Curtis, Issac Leyton, Corrine Hazel, Anna Hazel, Sophie Hazel and Emma Hazel, several step grand and step great grandchildren. Dorotha was preceded in death by her parents, husband, grandson Jimmy Curtis and 2 brothers Earl and Ernest Chadwick
Relatives and friends will be received Friday from 9 to 11 am at the Eley Funeral Home in Centreville where a Religious Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, with Dr. Reverend Karin Orr of the Centreville United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville. Memorial contributions may be made to Centreville United Methodist Church.
