Katherine (Kay) Shoemaker, 73, passed away Monday, May 25, 2009, at a hospice hospital in Bradenton, Fla.
Kay was born in Nappanee, Ind., on Aug. 21, 1935, a daughter of Owen and Fern Shoemaker.
Kay graduated from White Pigeon High School and the Bronson Hospital of Nursing with an RN degree.
She loved to travel and had been in all 50 states. She spent her lifetime in nursing and enjoyed it.
Kay is survived by her sister, Alice West; two nieces, Diane (Ronn) May and Natilee (Robert) Johnson; four great-nieces; three great-great-nephews; and two great-great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Fern Shoemaker, and an infant sister.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
