Kelly Jean Eagan-Walker, age 48, of Sturgis, Mich., passed away Saturday evening, May 30, 2009, at the Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo, Mich.
She was born March 9, 1961, in Attleboro, Mass., a daughter of Dennis and Katherine (Wentworth) Eagan.
Kelly had resided in Sturgis since 1971, coming from Texas. She was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1982.
Kelly was very involved in the Community Mental Health Clubhouse and loved to babysit many children in her apartment complex. She was a computer “nut” and enjoyed playing Pogo.
She is survived by one daughter, Heather Schrock of Constantine; two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Deondre; her parents, Denny and Jan Eagan of Sturgis; five sisters, Theresa (Dave) Asher of Coldwater, Deborah (Kevin) Gray of Sturgis, Cheri (Terry Smutz) Daskam of Sturgis, Dawn Hurley of Sturgis and Micki (Charlie Holleman) Hall of Sturgis; three brothers, Mike (Julie) Eagan of Sturgis, David Eagan of Sturgis and Jerry (Linda) Hall of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; a grandmother, Lois Eagan of Sturgis; special friend Alexis Janes of Sturgis; and her many friends, including her Village Manor neighbors and her fellow Clubhouse members.
Preceding her in death were her mother, Katherine Gay; a grandfather, Richard “Dick” Eagan; and a grandmother, Marilyn Wentworth.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. today at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. A graveside service and burial will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sturgis Memorial Gardens in Sturgis. The Rev. Father Richard Altine of Holy Angels Catholic Church will officiate.
