Mary Baker, 86

Mary L. Baker, 86, formerly of Ney, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Fostoria, Ohio. 

Mrs. Baker was born April 15, 1923, in Defiance County, Ohio, the daughter of John and Ruby Laura (Lentz) Kleinhen.  

She married Edgar L. Baker in Bryan on Dec. 5, 1942, and he preceded her in death on April 29, 1983.  Mrs. Baker was a cashier at the former Farmer High Schools  (currently Fairview High School) and a billing clerk for the Ney Water Department.  She was a member of the Ney United Methodist Church, where she was past president of the Ladies Group.  Mary also was a volunteer at the Community Hospital and Wellness Center-Bryan.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her son, Terry L. (Jean) Baker of Fostoria, Ohio; three daughters, Bonnie (Bert) Freeman of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Catherine (Tom) Pryslak of Sherwood and  Marlena “Lennie” (James) Kirsch of Sturgis, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; three half-sisters, Janice (Webb) Crocker of Bryan, Joyce (George) Bair of Dunnellon, Fla., and Joan Studebaker of Hicksville. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edgar; a daughter, Beth Johnson; two brothers, Robert and Harold Kleinhen; and two sisters, Hazel Moog and Marvel Clinker.
Visitation for Mrs. Mary L. Baker will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Ney United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ron Adkins II officiating. Interment will follow in Ney Cemetery.

Memorials in the name of Mary L. Baker may be given to the American Cancer Society.
