Michael E. Miller, age 50, of Sturgis, Mich., passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Parkview Memorial Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Nov. 25, 1958, in Sturgis, a son of Lewis and Ruby (Troyer) Miller, and had been a resident of St. Joseph County all of his life.
On Nov. 30, 1984, he married Darlene Gerber in Fairview.
Mike had been involved with construction all of his life and was a general contractor and owner/operator of Mike E. Miller Construction.
He was a member of Grace Christian Fellowship and enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Darlene; six children, Carissa Miller of Sturgis, Mich., Bryant Miller of Three Rivers, Mich., Adam Miller, Caleb Miller, Sveta Miller, and Dasha Miller, all of Sturgis, Mich.; his parents, Lewis and Ruby Miller of Sturgis; five brothers and sisters, Jim (Patty) Miller of Colon, Kevin (Joy) Miller of Burr Oak, Mich., JoAnn (Mike) Krick of Sturgis, Mich., Trudy (Jim) Zook of Lake Odessa, and Karen (Rick) Prell of Colon; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a nephew, Elijah Miller.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Michael E. Miller will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Grace Christian Fellowship, 300 Timothy Drive, Sturgis, with the Rev. Ross Gerber officiating.
The family suggests memorial donations be directed to the charity of one’s choice. Envelopes are available at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes Rosenberg Chapel, which is in charge of the arrangements.
