Noah A. Miller, age 75, of Colon, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at the Laurels of Coldwater after a short illness.
Noah was born March 9, 1934, in LaGrange, Ind., a son of the late Amos N. and Bessie (Beechum) Miller.
Noah had lived in Colon the past 21 years, coming from Sturgis.
He had worked as a truck driver for Grate Trucking in LaGrange and later had worked for Mystic Grove Apartments in Colon as a maintenance man.
Noah was a member of the LaGrange American Legion Post #215 and of the Chicago Teamsters Union Local #145, he had also served in the U.S. Army National Guard, and had attended the Colon United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his life partner, Vicky Kirkum of Colon; three children, Candace (Manny) Cabrera of Houston, Texas, Mary Martinez of Goshen, Ind., and Dawn Miller of Goshen, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Ray (Louanne) Miller of Colon, Roger (Carolyn) Miller of LaGrange, Roy (Mary) Miller of Texas and Andy Miller of Bradenton, Fla.; three sisters, Mary Jane (William) Warble of LaGrange, Sue Kensinger of LaGrange and Sue Miller; many nieces and nephews; and extended family Steve (Georgia) Dobberteen of Colon, Gretcheina (Toby) Myers, Scott (Debbie) Dobberteen and Melvin (Tiara) Dobberteen.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patti Jo Miller; a grandson, Christopher Miller; and a brother, William Miller.
There will be no visitations. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service celebrating the life of Noah A. Miller will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Schipper Funeral Home in Colon, with Mr. Melvin Dobberteen officiating.
Private interment of cremains will take place in Lakeside Cemetery in Colon at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Kidney foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
