Esther Marie Pierucki, age 94, of Burr Oak, Mich., passed away Friday, July 10, 2009, at Thurston Woods Village.
She was born Feb. 20, 1915, in Burr Oak Twp., Mich., a daughter to the late Annis and Erma Ruth (Johnson) Garn.
Esther had been a lifelong resident of Burr Oak graduating from the Needham country school and working at Douglas Mfg. in Bronson and at National Carbon Coated Company in Sturgis.
On Aug. 27, 1938, in Sturgis, Mich., she married John Pierucki. He preceded her in death Jan. 17, 1994.
She was a homemaker and a member of the St. Joseph County Farm Bureau.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon (Phillip) Mitchell and Gatha Pierucki, both of Burr Oak; one son, Mark Pierucki of Burr Oak; three grandchildren, Todd (Julie) Mitchell, Steven (Tina) Mitchell, and Jenny Pierucki; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Erma Beckwith-Sherman; and infant son, Annis.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 4-8 p.m. Monday, at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.
Funeral Services celebrating the life of Esther M. Pierucki will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, in the funeral home with The Rev. Brian Lutz, Heartland Hospice, officiating.
Graveside services will follow in Burr Oak Cemetery. The family suggest memorial donations be directed to Thurston Woods Village. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
