Bonnie Nowicki, 67

Bernadine “Bonnie” Nowicki, age  67, of  Fishers Lake, Three Rivers, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Borgess Medical Center following a brief illness.  She was born in Detroit, MI. the daughter of John Gierak and Catherine (Kielbasa) Gierak.

Bonnie and her husband Joe, who were married for 46 years, have been long time residents of this area moving here in the early 70’s.  Bonnie drove school bus for over 28 years for Romulus and Three Rivers Community Schools.  She influenced and touched the lives of so many students that rode her bus as well as the many drivers that have become her friends.  She was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church of Mendon, and most recently Immaculate Conception in Three Rivers, the Red Hat Society, and the Tuesday golf league at St. Joe Valley Golf Club.

Bonnie was a loving wife and caring mother whom loved life and lived it to the fullest.  She will be cherished for her smile and laughter, great sense of humor, story telling ability, and being a wonderful friend to so many people.  With her friends she loved going to the casinos, movies, and Notre Dame Women’s Basketball games.  She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and spoiling her granddogs, but mostly her greatest joy was being a grandmother to her grandchildren which she adored.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, John and Leonard Gierak.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving family, husband, Joe Sr. Nowicki, of Three Rivers; three children, Joe (Sherrie) Nowicki,  of Three Rivers, son, Rick (Nicole) Nowicki, of Grand Haven, MI., and daughter Cheri Nowicki, of Mishawaka, IN.; two sisters, Jean (Louie) Siembor, of Riverview, MI., and Irene Smolen, of White Hall, MI.  Two grandchildren, Ryan and Cauryn Nowicki. Two step-grandchildren, Britt and Bree Smolen.

The family will receive friends from  4-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2009 with a Scripture Service beginning at 7:30 p.m.

A mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Fr. Mark Vyverman as celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception School Trust Fund or the American Heart Association.  Envelopes available at the funeral Home.
