Harry Young, 76

Harry Junior Young, age 76, of rural Three Rivers, died Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at his home.

He was born in Three Rivers, Mich., on Jan. 5, 1933, the son of Harry and Jessie Young.  He graduated from Centreville High School and later served in the U.S. Army.

Harry was married to Marjorie Irene Bates on Feb. 25, 1956, in Angola, Ind.  She died in 1981.  Harry was employed by Continental Can Co., later known as the Fonda Group for more than 42 years.  In his spare time he enjoyed fishing.  He especially enjoyed woodworking and making furniture.

Harry is survived by three children, Randy Young (Theresa) of Vandalia, Glenda Barnes (David) of Grayling, and Glenn Young of Three Rivers; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren;  three sisters, Alice Kenneth, Jean Fellows (Bob) and Hazel Hagenduch (Paul); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie; a sister, Virginia Truckenmiller; and a brother, Howard Young.

Cremation has been conducted.  A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Family Life Center at the Corey Church of the Nazarene, with Pastor Gary Carr officiating.  The family will receive friends following services in the Family Life Center.  A private interment of ashes will take place later in Poe Cemetery.
