Mary D. Riley, age 53, of Constantine, Mich., passed away Monday evening, July 27, 2009, at the Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
She was born Feb. 6, 1956, in Niles, Mich., a daughter to the late Donald J. and Elvira Mae (Cutler) Riley Sr.
Mary had resided in the Constantine area for more than 15 years. Her early life was spent in Niles.
She married LD Caldwell, and he preceded her in death in October 2006.
Mary was very active in the Republican Party and worked countless hours for Cameron Brown, Fred Upton, Matt Lori, Rick Shaffer and Jeff Middleton.
She enjoyed crafts, gardening, playing bingo, farming and animals. Mary was always happiest when she was doing for others.
She is survived by a daughter, Crystal (Bobby) Stremme of South Bend, Ind.; a son, David Gill of Mishawaka, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Hall, Jazmyne Gill, Bethani Gill, Hannah Gill, Cameron Schultz, Nicholas Stremme and Dylan Stremme; three sisters, Lou Ann Riley of South Bend, Sally Riley Clements of Niles and Gladys “Sandy” Neldon of Niles; two half-sisters, Lois Riley of California and Donna Marie Riley of Arizona; two brothers, Donald J. Riley Jr. of Niles and Gerald Riley of Niles; a half-brother, Bruce Colburn of Michigan; her significant other, Bob Bidelman of Constantine; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Jeston M. Riley; one sister, Eldonna Riley Kelley; one half-sister, Shirley Riley; and one half brother, Johnny Riley.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis.
Memorial donations would be appreciated to the charity of one’s choice.
