Betty Lewis, 79

Betty Louise Lewis,  age 79, of LaGrange, Indiana passed away Monday
evening September 7, 2009 at her home.

She was born October 16, 1929 in Auburn, Indiana a daughter of the late
Meryl and Erma (Chapman) Carper.

Betty had resided in Ontario, Indiana for the past 35 years coming from
Sturgis. On January 10, 1948 she married William Lewis in Fort Wayne,
Indiana.

Betty was self employed as a second hand store operator and for many
years she worked at Zickafoose Fruit Market in Sturgis and had also been
employed by Michiana Container in Sturgis.

She was a past member of Loyal Order of Moose #574 in Sturgis. Betty
enjoyed going to the casino and was always willing to be of help to
others. She had a passion and love for going to auctions and always
returned home with some treasures.

She is survived by Two Daughters; Cathy (Steven) Haney of Burr Oak and
Rita (Floyd) Mast of Howe, Indiana, Three Sons; John (Hilde) Lewis of
Sturgis, Russell Lewis of Howe, Indiana and Roy Lewis of LaGrange,
Indiana, 21 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren and one half sister.

Her parents, husband, two sons; Lucky Lewis and Steve Lewis and Great
Grandson; Lawrence Ultz preceded her in death.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and
2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday at the *Hackman Family Funeral
homes – Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091,
269-651-3284*. Funeral services celebrating the life of Betty Lewis will
be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Jacob Schwartz will
officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn
Cemetery in Sturgis.
