Earl B. Avery of Cadillac passed away Sept. 22, 2009, at his home. He was 84 years old.
Mr Avery was born May 23, 1925, in Mendon, to George C. and Alida (Wortz) Avery.
He married Jean M. Yearling Nov. 11, 1944 in Mendon.
Earl was a carpenter for Arrow Homes, and worked at Lake City Lumber for a number of years.
He enjoyed ice fishing, and the out-of-doors. He was a big time gardener, and loved hosting large picnics at his home and he loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Jean; and children, Elizabeth (Willie) Birch of Leonidas, Robert (Audrey) Avery of Colon, William (Wanda) Avery of Manton and Daniel Avery of Leonidas; one brother, Lloyd (Barbara) Avery of Mendon; three granddaughters, Terese Avery, Lisa (Tyler) Stoll, and Karlene (Ben) Jones; and six great-grandchildren: Kody, Shelby, Abigail, Taylor, Luke and Olivia.
He was preceded in death by a great grandson, Jacob Curley.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Young Funeral Home, 403 S Pine St., Lake City, Mich. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. prior to funeral services. Burial will be in the Lake City Cemetery.
