She was born February 13, 1915 in Cassopolis a daughter to the late
Cloyd and Bessie (Biederman) Holtzapple.
Gladys had resided in Sturgis from 1951-1972 when she and her husband
moved to Mesick, Michigan where she lived until 1992 when she returned
to Sturgis.
On March 29, 1935 she married Arden W. Paxton in Winamac, Indiana. He
died October 28, 1986.
Gladys was a home maker and enjoyed spending time with her family
especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by Two Daughters; Barbara (Jack) Frohriep of Sturgis and
Karen Broadworth of Sturgis, One Son; Arden Paxton, Jr. of Sturgis, 14
Grandchildren, 24 Great Grandchildren, 19 Great Great Grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, one daughter; Beverly Gunthorpe, one great grandson; Arden
Paxton, five brothers and three sister preceded her in death.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday at the
*Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St.,
Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331*. Funeral services celebrating the life
of Gladys L. Paxton will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral
home. The Rev. Calvin Kolzow of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Sturgis
will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak
Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
