Phyllis East, 88

Phyllis Ann East, 88, of Three Rivers, passed away early Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Muskegon. She was born on Feb. 26, 1921 in Ludington the daughter of Ernest J. and Doris (Ackerman) Subora.

Phyllis had a great passion for reading, music and the importance of a good education. She attended Lawrence University in Wisconsin in the late 1930’s.

She has been a resident of Three Rivers since 1942. She married Donald R. East on June 14, 1946 and he proceeded her in death in 2003.

Phyllis did clerical work in the medical field for over 30 years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Some of her other interests were word puzzles, knitting, baking and tutoring.

Phyllis will be remembered for her caring spirit and great sense of humor.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving family, daughter, Cathy (John) Sorenson of Muskegon and their daughter, Laurie Pierce of Manchester, Conn.; one son, Richard (Randi) East of Three Rivers and their children, Jennifer (Scott) Outman, Jason (Laura) East and Jarrad East; great-grandchildren, Kylie East, McKenzie and Micah Outman, Gillian and Jacob East; one sister, Marian (Raymond) Gilbert; two nephews, Stephen and Stanley, all of Wichita, Kan.; many wonderful friends.

Memorial services are pending at a later date at the Hohner Funeral Home, Three Rivers.
