Willard Flach, age 83 of Mendon, died Tuesday Oct. 6, 2009 at Riverview Manor in Three Rivers where he had resided the past 4 years. He was born in Mendon on March 24, 1926 the son of the late Leo T. and Rosie Mae (Shyer) Flach and was a lifetime resident of the Mendon area. After attending Mendon Schools, Willard served in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a carpenter and roofer during his working life. He was an outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Willard is survived by 3 nephews, Rick Moyer (Velina) and Terry Moyer both of Mendon, and Dennis Berghuis (Mary Anne) of Portage; 1 niece, Linda Nufer (David) of Portage; and several grand-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother, William Flach; 2 sisters, Mary Jane Berghuis and Bernadette Moyer; 1 niece, Karen Gordon.
