Goldie Hernandez, 71

Goldie Alice Hernandez, 71, of Centreville, passed away Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009 at her home. Goldie was born in Allegan on Sept. 1, 1938, a daughter of Merritt and Goldie (Failor) Butler. She graduated from Three Rivers High School. Goldie married Kenneth Watson in 1956, he preceded her in death in 1970. On July 17, 1980 she married Fidencio “Phil” Hernandez in Three Rivers.

Goldie worked as a physical therapist at Fairview Nursing Home and Three Rivers Health Hospital. She was an avid reader and was active in the Nottawa Township Library. Goldie also enjoyed working in her garden and loved her flowers. She collected turtles and was a fan of the television shows Cops, Judges, Bones and House.

Surviving are her husband, Phil Hernandez of Centreville; son, David Watson of Paw Paw; daughter, Dawn (Roger) Harper of Colon; sisters, Marian Lukins of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Nancy Lukins of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Amanda (Dustin) Schmittendorf of Constantine and Andrea Watson of Centreville; great-grandson, Tallen Schmittendorf. She was preceded in death by her parents.
