Jeanne Schmidt, 86, of White Pigeon, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Park Place Living Center in Kalamazoo.
She was born Aug. 8, 1923, in White Pigeon to Lloyd and Lydia (Ingold) Catton. She was a gradaute of White Pigeon High School in 1942, where she was the drum majorette and a cheerleader.
On Oct. 23, 1953, she married Richard W. Schmidt at the White Pigeon United Methodist Church.
She had been a Kalamazoo resident since May, and a White Pigeon resident her entire life.
She was the secretary for G&A Truck Lines in White Pigeon, Continental Can in Three Rivers, Aux Scandelles School in Elkhart, Ind. and the Pathfinder Center in Centreville.
She was a member of the White Pigeon United Methodist Church, the bridge club and enjoyed playing cards.
Surviving are her husband, Richard W. Schmidt of White Pigeon; four sons, Brad Schmidt of White Pigeon, Peter (Julie) Schmidt of Kalamazoo, Michael (Alice) Schmidt of Kentwood and Patrick Schmidt of Washington DC; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; and a cousin.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, June Marvin.
Relatives and friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon, where services are at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Wilbur R. Brandli officiating.
