Leah E. Moore, 92, of Sturgis, passed away Saturday afternoon, Oct. 31, 2009, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
She was born Dec. 7, 1916, in Mount Vernon, Ohio, a daughter to the late Raymond Bishop and Minnie (McCullough) Morey.
Mrs. Moore had resided in Sturgis since 1974 coming from California. Prior to that she lived in Columbus, Ohio.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene. Mrs. Moore enjoyed crafts and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by a son, Robert (Kim) Moore of Bronson; eight grandchildren, Robert Moore, Tonya Dentler, Alissa Moore, Laresa Ashbrook, Troy Moore, Tyler Crew, Travis Crew and Jennifer Crew; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; a brother, Corwin Morey of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a very good friend, Gordon Moore; two sisters, Sara Morey and Eleanor Ralston; and a brother, Bobby Keith Morey.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis. Funeral services celebrating the life of Leah E. Moore will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. John Shoup of the Sturgis Church of the Nazarene will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
