Ronald C. Collins, age 61, of 11142 U.S. 12, Mottville Township, White Pigeon, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Goshen General Hospital in Goshen, Ind.
He was born Feb. 24, 1948, in Parkin, Ark., a son of Howard and Mary (Osborn) Collins.
He served in the U.S. Navy for six years, from 1966 to 1972, as a Seaman E-3 on the USS Preble.
He served in Vietnam for one year.
On July 8, 1972, he married Vera M. Yoder in White Pigeon.
He was employed for nine years in the shipping department at Syndicated Systems in Middlebury, Ind., and for 13 years in transportation at Coachman in Middlebury.
He attended Trinity Missionary Church in Constantine.
He enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, bowling and NASCAR.
Surviving are his wife, Vera M. Collins of Mottville; a daughter, Joyce M. (Jim) Geyer of Constantine; a son, Ronald E. (Miranda Kalkirtz) Collins of Howe, Ind.; 10 grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Holmes of White Pigeon and Margaret (Domonic) Barberis of Leesburg, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Fletcher Griffin; and two sisters, Mary Jane and Mildred Inez.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Trinity Missionary Church in Constantine, with Pastor Dwight Kuffman of English Prairie Church of the Brethren in Howe, Ind., officiating. Burial will follow in White Pigeon Township Cemetery, White Pigeon.
