Donald Paul Buffington II, 58, of Mendon, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. He was born in Towanda, Pa. on July 21, 1951 the son of the late Donald P. and Elizabeth L. (Kershner) Buffington and attended schools in Pennsylvania and California. He has resided in Michigan for the last 20 years. Donald was a truck driver and most recently worked for Hager Distribution in White Pigeon. He enjoyed music and played both the guitar and piano, and was part of a garage band in his younger days. He was a wood-burning artist, enjoyed drawing, and calligraphy. Donald was married to Susan Hart on Sept. 13, 1997. They were later divorced.
Donald is survived by his ex-wife, Susan Buffington; a sister Lisa Ballard (Vern) of Portland, Ore.; two brothers, Michael Buffington (Cora) of Grass Valley, CA and Charles Buffington (Barbara) of Corona, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday (this evening) at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at the funeral home with Rev. Father James Vinh Le, Pastor of Saint Edward Catholic Church, officiating. Cremation will follow services. Memorials will be directed to the Liver Transplant Program at the University of Michigan Hospital.
