Douglas Cady Jr., 76

Douglas M. Cady Jr., 76, of Dania Beach, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, at Willow Manor Assisted Living in Dania Beach, Fla., following an extended illness.

He was born May 3, 1933 in Sturgis, Mich., a son to Douglas M. and Marguerite (Albright) Cady Sr.

He was a Florida resident since 1975, coming from Minneapolis, Minn. Early in life, he lived in White Pigeon, Mich.

On Oct. 4, 1969, he married Linda Avent in Kalamazoo, Mich.

In his early life he was an ad man for the Kalamazoo Gazette and a store manager for Zayre Corp. from 1969 until 197,. He was vice president of operations for ACME Commercial Security from 1980-1993 when he retired and worked part time for Regal Cinemas for six years.

He was an elder of the church Community of 100 of Hollywood, Fla., and an avid Detroit Tigers fan.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Cady of Dania Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Cindy (Tim) Barns of Richland, Mich., and Cathy (Eric) Burghdoff of Charlotte, Mich.; two sons, Douglas (Sue) Cady III of Hollywood, Fla., and Michael Cady of Scotts, Mich.; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jan Cady of Kalamazoo, Mich., and Jon Cady of Centreville, Mich.; sister, Debborah French of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Relatives and friends may call from noon until 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon, Mich., where services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in White Pigeon Township Cemetery.
